"It was pleasing," said Kevin. "The first half was good; we went three-nil up. In the second half, I think we managed the game really well. We had a couple of the First Team boys get an outing for 70-75 minutes, so it was pleasing all round really.

"It’s good for the boys to see what the First Team players do off the pitch; their preparation, the warm-ups and how they are around the group. Our boys can hopefully learn from that and see what it takes to get to their level."

Kevin acknowledged that his team seemed to relax in the second 45 minutes, noting that the weather may have had an effect on the players.

"It was extremely hot out there as well, so I can’t be too critical. We did [take our foot off the pedal] a little bit but we managed the game really well. Okay, they got the penalty, which was debatable but apart from that, I thought we were comfortable.

"They tried to play centrally an awful lot so we tried to narrow up and force them wide. We managed to do that and then defended their crosses well. You can see they had some good young players there, but I think we dealt with them well today."

Asked about the standard of the tour overall, Kevin said: "The games have been brilliant. As I’ve said previously to you, the hotel and facilities were spot on so that’s been really pleasing."

Kevin also told iFollow that he has learned a lot about his squad from this trip.

"I think we’ve got more strength in depth, so when we picked up a couple of injuries other boys have come in and done very well.

"It’s interesting that they learn even when they are not in the team at times, they are still picking up what we are doing in training so when they get an opportunity they do what we want of them. That’s really pleasing as well.

"We’ve had three games in a week, which has been tough. We showed a good mentality."

This B Team system, since its beginning last season, has allowed a steady rotation of players from Kevin's squad to train with the First Team each week. Kevin has noticed the impact this has had on his team.

“Theo has come over, played three games and score two goals, he’s done really well. Ilias was very positive today as well. They come back with a confidence, it’s up to us to keep their feet on the ground and still produce in our games as well."
