Brentford B midfield player Zain Westbrooke has joined non-league Leyton Orient on loan for three months. The 20-year-old B Team captain completed his move to the East London side this morning, Wednesday 11 October. He will stay with The Vanarama National League outfit until 10 January 2018. A clause has been inserted in to the loan to allow The Bees to recall Zain after 28 days but the midfield player has been given permission to play in the Emirates FA Cup for Orient.
This will be Zain’s second loan of the season. He spent a month with Solihull Moors but was sent off in his second game and the National League side got in other loan players to replace him during his suspension. Zain topped the B Team appearance list last season, playing 38 games and scoring six goals. So far this term, he has played 11 games and scored three times.
Zain turned professional in the summer of 2015 and made his Sky Bet Championship debut against Fulham at the end of last season. He was also named as a substitute against Ipswich Town earlier this term. Zain could make his debut for Orient against Dagenham and Redbridge in the FA Cup on Saturday. His new side are currently 17th in the National League, six points from the Play-Off spots and six from the relegation zone.
Rob Rowan, Brentford FC Head of Football Operations, said: "I'm really happy for Zain that he's got another opportunity to impress on loan. He's worked hard over the last 14 months and has impressed the staff with his application and ability. Now he needs to impress the staff and fans of Leyton Orient. I look forward to watching him over the next three months with our scouting department and tracking his progress in some important fixtures for Leyton Orient."
