Brentford Women return to Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday afternoon where they face Leatherhead Women in the London South East Division One North in a 3pm kick-off.
After the Women’s first team’s title hopes possibly took a knock following their 2-2 draw to Hackney Women last weekend, head coach Karleigh Osborne still believes his side are in the running to gain promotion.
Speaking on his side's title chances, Osborne said: “Of course, we still have a great chance to win the league, it’s important to remember some of the great results we have had this season.
“I have a huge amount of belief in this group and I know when they are at it they are one of the best teams in the league but we just need to keep picking up results.”
Despite leading twice Brentford Women were left frustrated after coming away from Hackney with just a point following two great wins prior to last Sunday.
Osborne was proud of his team’s efforts but was disappointed by the result and how the game played out.
“Like I said last weekend, it was a frustrating day all round, we played some great football at times and showed our quality but to be fair to Hackney they battled well.
“A lot of things went against us during the game but we need to get used to this and make sure we focus on the things we can control.”
Last time we met
It was a one-sided affair between the two sides in the reverse fixture with Brentford putting on a dominant performance as they ensured the three points against Leatherhead away from home back in December. Four first-half goal courtesy of a Demi Edwards hat-trick and a close-range Kirsty Matthews strike saw the Bees come away with the 4-0 win.
Osborne celebrating the previous win against Leatherhead
Talking on the previous result, Osborne explained: “It was a brilliant performance last time against Leatherhead, we blew them away in the first half and were able to relax in the second half which was great to watch.
“We must not become complacent on Sunday though, I want us to go into every game like it’s a cup final and it’s the same for this one.”
Our B team are without a fixture this Sunday as Enfield Town Thirds were unable to field a team, resulting in 3-0 home win for Brentford.
