Brentford Women’s First team will hope they can boost their title hopes as they take on Denham United Ladies in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North on Sunday at The Den in a 12pm kick-off.
Following a steady start to the year First team Head Coach, Karleigh Osborne is looking for his side to show more consistency as they remain in the race for promotion from the league.
Osborne said: “We made a really good start to the year and played some great football but the defeat to Sutton has caused us to lose momentum slightly so I’m looking for a reaction this weekend.
“We’re second in the league so promotion is still our aim, I think getting a good run going is really important, prior to Christmas we went seven games unbeaten and sat top of the league, so I’d like to see us bring this type of form back.”
The Bees scored 11 goals in just three games last month with the First team’s best result coming in the 8-1 win in the Capital Cup against UCL Academicals.
Osborne went on to explain how important his attacking players will be as they approach the final few months of the season.
“Against UCL Academicals we were on fire, I really enjoyed that performance not just in the attacking areas but also how we defended.
“We had three goal scorers that day in Chloe (Logie), Nikki (Saunders) and Kirsty (Matthews) who are all so important for us going forward. When we’re at our best in the final third I believe we can beat anyone so I want to see the same ruthlessness from them forwards Denham and for the rest of the season.”
Last time we met
The Women’s First team faced Denham United in the reverse fixture back in November. Osborne’s side left Bedfont Sports Club with a 4-2 win with Logie scoring all four goals in what was an amazing performance from the number nine.
Logie celebrates one of her goals against Denham
Speaking on the previous game against Denham, Logie said: “We did really well last time we played them, and I’d say it was one of my best games of the season but without the team, I wouldn’t have been able to get my goals.
“We should expect Denham to be a stronger side this time round but I think we should remain focused on playing our game and if we do that I’m positive we can get the win.”
