Young Brentford midfield players Jermaine Udumaga and James Ferry have joined Sky Bet League Two Wycombe Wanderers on loan. The pair completed the move to the Buckinghamshire club this afternoon, Thursday 26 November, before the window for emergency loan transfers shuts at 5pm. They will stay with Wycombe until 23 December and will be available for their League Two match against Portsmouth on Saturday.

James, 18, is in line for his Football League debut just days after signing his second professional contract. The high-energy teenager signed a one-year contract extension earlier this week to remain as part of the Club’s Development Squad until the end of June 2017. He had initially turned professional in the summer, signing a one-year deal after completing his scholarship.

James has captained Brentford’s Development Squad for most of the season as The Bees have flourished in the Under-21 Professional Development League and reached the last 16 of the Under-21 Premier League Cup. He has played 13 times in the league and cup this term, scoring once.

Jermaine, 20, was in and around the First Team squad at the start of the season and made his professional debut in a Capital One Cup game against Oxford United. He went on to make three further appearances – all as a substitute in the Sky Bet Championship – and was an unused substitute on a further five occasions. He has also played 11 games for the Development Squad this season, scoring twice.

The attacking midfield player, who can also play as a striker, signed a new contract in February 2015 to keep him at Brentford until the end of the current season. He had initially joined The Bees on a Development Squad contract in the summer of 2014 after a successful trial. The former Oxford scholar impressed for Brentford in Under-21 Professional Development League Two matches last season – playing 24 games, captaining the side and scoring 12 goals – and was an unused substitute in four Championship fixtures.

Robert Rowan, Brentford FC Head of Football Operations, said: “This is a great opportunity for James and Jermaine. This is a chance for them to go out and play men’s football. Jermaine is at the stage of his career where he needs this. It is the next stage of his development. For James it is a chance for him to go in to a First Team environment. They both have to grab this chance.”

James and Jermaine completed the moves this afternoon and will train with Wycombe tomorrow, ahead of the match against Portsmouth. Wycombe are currently ninth in League Two and are on the edge of the promotion race having reached the Play-Off Final last season, losing on penalties. They play six games before Christmas and will be looking to climb in to the promotion shake-up.
