Bryan Mbuemo said that coming on during the second half at Stamford Bridge, with Brentford one goal up, provided him with a great opportunity to get on the scoresheet.
With Chelsea pushing forward after the break in search of an equaliser, the Bees exploited the space in behind. In the 78th minute, Mbeumo received a pass from Ivan Toney, drove up the right flank, cut onto his left foot and fired beyond Kepa via a deflection off Thiago Silva to send the away fans into delirium.
“I knew I could be a threat in this situation,” said Mbeumo, who now has 12 goal involvements in the Premier League this season.
“This something we’ve been working on after training. I was just thinking that I needed to hit the ball as hard as I can, in order to disturb the keeper.
“To score here and celebrate with the boys, in front of our fans, was crazy.
“I don’t really have the words. I’m very happy. To win here is not an easy task and we did it with a top performance.”
