New Brentford signing Jayden Meghoma revealed that Bees head coach Thomas Frank and the Dane's great record of developing young players is one of the key reasons he wanted to join the club.

Meghoma, an 18-year-old left-back, joined the west Londoners on a four-year contract from Southampton on Deadline Day and, in his first interview at the club, expressed his happiness to sign, as well as revealing what sort of player the Brentford supporters can expect to see at Gtech Community Stadium.

“I'm honestly delighted to be here,” he said. “It’s been an amazing feeling meeting Thomas Frank and everybody here. It's an amazing feeling to finally be here.

“Thomas was a big factor in me coming here in the first place. He really sold the project well to me and I feel like this is a place where I can further my development, so I'm really excited to start.

“As a young player, that was one of the main factors that appealed to me and to Brentford: the style of play, the way Thomas is with young players and how he conducts himself is amazing. Just speaking to him sold it to me.

“I want to be a Premier League football player, I want to play a lot of minutes for Brentford, and ultimately be the best player I can be.”

On his style of play, he added: “I like attacking. With modern-day full-backs nowadays, you're required to attack and defend; I feel like a big part of my game is going forward.

“I'm quite a versatile player, I'm fast, I'm good at dribbling, and I think my crossing is good at finding team-mates.

“Having that relationship with my winger is also a good thing that I like to have to progress up the pitch.”
