Mikkel Damsgaard cut a delighted figure following Brentford’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United.
Damsgaard played an instrumental role in the Bees’ opener – Oliver Arblaster turning the Dane’s cutback into his own goal – and was controversially denied a goal of his own on 68 minutes after his well-struck volley was chalked off by VAR.
“It was a little bit more scrappy than we would have liked, but we’re just happy to get the win,” he said.
“We had nine games without win, so it feels good to finally get one.
“It’s very important for the relegation battle and it feels so good to get a little bit of distance.”
On his involvement in the Bees’ first goal, Damsgaard said: “I just try to create chances – that’s one of my roles in the team – and I got a little bit fortunate with that one! But we take that and it helped us get the win today.
“I tried to give everything in the 50-50 battles and, on the ball, avoid the tackles and try to get around them and create chances.”
