Brentford centre-forward Neal Maupay has reflected on his final game in a Bees shirt, as he came on as a substitute in Sunday's 4-2 defeat to Newcastle United.
The Frenchman, in his second spell at the club, got a superb reception from the home supporters as he replaced Sergio Reguilón in the 74th minute, after it was revealed that he would return to his parent club Everton upon the expiry of his loan in west London.
And Maupay had one last message for the Brentford supporters, as he reflected on the 2023/24 campaign and his return to the club.
“I really appreciate and I've been very lucky to receive the support and the love they’ve given me, so thank you very much, it's been great," he said.
“It's been a hell of a journey, but I think every good thing comes to an end and today is the end of my Brentford chapter.
“But I have memories for life.”
Maupay added: “I've enjoyed every minute.
"It's been a tough season for everyone, but I'm happy with the way we overcame our challenges and put the club in a position to play another year in the Premier League.
“I scored some goals and had some good moments, so it was all very positive.”
