Brentford head coach Thomas Frank insisted his side will be "ready for the run-in", after the Bees' 2-1 defeat to Burnley on Saturday.

With nine games left of the season after the upcoming international break - starting with Manchester United at Gtech Community Stadium on 30 March - Frank stated his side will be "ready to fight".

When asked if it was a good time for an international break, he said: “It would’ve been a better time if we won today! But I don't care if it's coming, it is there.

“It's good for the international guys to go away: we know that some will refresh a bit, some can train harder and some will come back from injury.

“Bryan [Mbeumo] took a step further down the line to be closer to potentially starting and with Ethan [Pinnock], we will see over the next two weeks.

“The only thing I care about is that we will be ready for the run-in and we will be ready to fight, no doubt about that.”

On the game itself, Frank commented: “I am, and I hope the fans are, incredibly proud of the players: their mentality, their effort, their character.

“We were playing 10 v 11 for nearly 100 minutes, and the way we stayed in the game, the way we fought, the work ethic was incredible, and I think we were very close to getting a point - and we maybe could or should have got a point in the end.

“I hope everyone can see that because this group of players never roll over - they will fight.”

And, after commending his players, Frank praised the Bees fans who made the trip to Lancashire and made their voices heard throughout the game.

“[The fans] were impressive. I was so pleased to see so many," said the Bees boss.

“The singing and the cheering is going to be instrumental for us for the rest of the season.”
