Yoane Wissa was happy with Brentford’s 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon – but believes that the Bees could have won by a greater margin.

Wissa’s sixth goal of the Premier League season doubled his side’s advantage just before the break, and Brentford maintained control in the second half to secure a win that guarantees a top-half finish.

The 26-year-old was deployed in the middle of a front three in the absence of Ivan Toney, who missed the game with a hamstring injury.

“It was a very good performance from everyone,” Wissa began.

“We kept a clean sheet and should have scored more goals, but we take the win and the three points. I’m happy for the boys and I’m happy for the fans.”

Wissa’s goal came on 43 minutes. Mathias Jensen’s long throw was flicked on by Ben Mee, and the DR Congo international was on his toes to get in front of his marker and head home.

“We know that we have to be aware on set-pieces and be switched on,” he said.

“I was happy for the team, and for myself as well, because I wanted to score. I know I can score from anywhere – either foot or my head – so I just need to be in the right positions.”
