Josh Dasilva said he is delighted to be back “showing the fans what he can do” after his stunning late equaliser against Leicester City.

The midfielder curled in his first Premier League goal as the Bees came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at the King Power Stadium.

And, having been out for much of the last campaign due to injury, he said it was a great moment to share with the fans as he celebrated his strike with them on the opening weekend of the season.

Josh said: “It’s been a while since I scored a goal so having all that emotion and all that feeling is good to share with the fans. And it was good to get the point as well.”

He added: “I’ve always looked to score goals - helping the team, first and foremost, was good. And, just for myself, it was good for my confidence and showing what I’m about.

“It’s been a while so I haven’t really been able to show the fans what I can do. It was good to get out there and just score.”

Josh also credited Thomas Frank for the faith he had in him throughout his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The boss even made the point of going over with Josh to the travelling fans after the game and pointing at the name on the back of his shirt as they celebrated the dramatic draw against the Foxes.

“Thomas has a great belief in me, which is obviously great. He gave me the No.10 shirt even when I was injured so that shows what sort of belief he has in me,” said the 23-year-old.

“Hopefully I can repay it in the minutes he gives me. I have a great relationship with him and he helped me a lot, messaging me and coming to talk to me even when I was injured.

“He has a lot of faith in me so hopefully I can repay it with more goals like that!”
