Michael McSorley is an electric and skillful forward in Brentford’s U18s team, known for his direct approach and flair on the ball.
His journey in football began at Brentford’s pre-academy from U6 to U8, where he first honed his talents. After gaining experience with Brentham Colts, Southampton SERC, The Gap Academy, and Southall CFA, Michael returned to Brentford to continue his development through the Post-16 program and now with the U18s.
One of Michael’s proudest moments was signing with Brentford, marking the start of his professional journey with the club. His standout achievement so far came last season, scoring two crucial goals against MK Dons to secure the league title. With ambitious goals set for the current season, he’s aiming for 25 goals personally and hopes to help the team make a deep run in the FA Youth Cup.
Known for his electrifying style, Michael’s teammates would describe him as “electric, direct, and skilful,” qualities that make him a constant threat on the pitch. His dream five-a-side team includes Messi, Ronaldinho, Rodri, Vinicius Jr., and himself, showing his appreciation for attacking flair and technical skill. Before matches, he hypes himself up with music by Asake, and for his initiation song, he channels the classics, choosing Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.
Reflecting on his experience at the club, Michael credits his development to Brentford’s high standards and training with first-team players, where he’s learned to keep his intensity and precision in every pass and movement. Coaches like JP have also helped him grow into a more complete striker, working on tactical awareness and finishing.
Michael’s dad and JoJo Debayo from The Gap Academy have been his biggest influences, shaping his drive and ambition. In the future, he aims to bring his goal-scoring ability and creative edge to Brentford’s first team, determined to make his mark and continue his journey with the Bees.
