North London-born Paris Maghoma followed his older brothers Jacques and Christian into Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy as a youngster, but departed at the age of 18 in January 2020.
He opted to join Brentford for an undisclosed fee and signed an initial 18-month contract.
“He’s a very talented player; an advanced midfield player is probably his best position and he likes to create,” said B-team head coach Neil MacFarlane upon his arrival.
“I think we can help him in terms of his goal tally, and I think we can help him in terms of work without the ball - if we can marry all of those aspects together, then we’ll have a really good player. It’s a real coup to get him.”
Maghoma was named on the bench for Brentford’s Carabao Cup first-round penalty shootout win over Wycombe Wanderers in September 2020 and on five further occasions in 2021/22, when he was part of the B-team squad that lifted the London Senior Cup.
That summer - having already signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract - he was promoted to the Bees’ first team.
In the summer of 2022, he was sent out on loan to League Two side AFC Wimbledon, for whom he made 24 appearances, before being recalled by Brentford due to injury in the December.
One month later he left, again temporarily, this time for MK Dons in the division above, for whom he made a further 20 appearances.
He spent the 2023/24 campaign with Bolton Wanderers and thrived in a more advanced role under Ian Evatt.
The former England Under-20 international played 50 games in all competitions, scored nine goals and provided seven assists.
Maghoma was named Wanderers’ Young Player of the Year, though he missed out on capping a superb personal campaign with promotion back to the Championship after the Trotters lost 2-0 to Oxford United in the League One play-off final at Wembley.
