The 19-year-old has been an integral part of Neil MacFarlane’s young Bees over the past year and will join up with Glyn Hodges’ side ahead of the new campaign as the youngster looks to continue his development with first team football.

Jaakko’s loan does have an option of a recall to Brentford which can be activated from the beginning of January 2021.

Last season Jaakko turned out for Brentford B 30 times, picking up four assists and netting once against Hanwell Town in the Middlesex Senior Cup back in October. The youngster was part of the side that played fixtures across Europe against the likes of FC Astana, FC Seoul as well as teams like FC Bordeaux’s Under-23s and a Rangers XI.

Since joining Brentford B Jaakko has featured 66 times, and the central midfielder has turned out for the First Team under Thomas Frank on three occasions, two of which came last season as he helped the side to wins over Reading and Stoke City.

Last season two other Bees made the temporary move to The Cherry Red Records Stadium with Marcus Forss hitting some fantastic goalscoring form whilst on loan and Mads Bech Sorensen played nine times for AFC Wimbledon, prior to the early curtailment of the season after he joined the club in January.

AFC Wimbledon finished in 20th position last season in SkyBet League One and confirmed their place in the league for the 2020/21 season. The Dons have already added the likes of Ollie Palmer, Alex Woodyard and Connal Trueman to their ranks ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking about the opportunity for Jaakko to head out on loan, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “It’s brilliant for Jaakko, and I think it’s the right time, which is important when boys go on loan. I can only speak of Jaakko in the highest regard in terms of what he’s done for us within the B Team setup.

“His attitude has been exemplary from day one right through the season, and it feels the appropriate time for him to go out on loan. He’s got an opportunity to go and play in League One at a very young age and I have total belief in him. I can’t speak highly enough of him off the park, and on the park, he is a real talent and I think he’s got a really bright future. Hopefully he goes out to Wimbledon and does really well.”

Having seen Marcus and Mads head out on loan to Wimbledon last season, Neil believes the clubs share a positive relationship. He continued: “We have a brilliant relationship, particularly with Marcus and Mads going there last season. There’s a link and it could be an opportunity for more players in the future to go and experience first team football.”
