Both players were injured when football was halted in March but are now back in training. South African international Kamohelo played the second half of Brentford’s friendly win at Arsenal last Wednesday in his usual central midfield role. Greece international Nikos is still on the way back from a serious knee injury but is working on the pitches at Jersey Road.

Thomas Frank, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “We are very pleased to extend Kamohelo’s contract. He has worked very hard to come back from his injury and will be ready and fit for selection against Fulham. We need The General’s experience, coolness and passing ability as we head into the last part of the season. He is so reliable and adds so much to the group, both in training and matches. You can see when he steps onto the pitch how it raises the levels of those around him.

“It is also very good to extend Nikos’ contract. Nikos is working very hard to come back from his injury. He is in a good place and, while he might not be ready for the season restart next week, we will be able to use his qualities and experience during the final weeks of the season.”

Nikos joined Brentford on a one-year deal in August as a free agent after leaving Koninklijke Racing Club Genk in the summer. The 28-year-old was injured on his first start for The Bees, against Millwall in October, and has made four appearances for the Club so far. Kamohelo is coming to the end of his third season in West London and has played 100 games in all competitions for Brentford, scoring six times since he joined from FC Twente, in the Netherlands, in 2017. The midfield player has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring in the win at Wigan Athletic.

The Bees have welcomed back Mads Bech Sørensen from a loan spell at AFC Wimbledon. The left-sided defender joined the Sky Bet League One side in January on a half-season loan. With the League One season officially curtailed this week, Mads is back with The Bees, albeit he cannot play in any competitive games. Mads played nine games for Wimbledon, who finished 20th in League One, and appeared for Brentford in the win at Arsenal. The 21-year-old has been in West London for three years and has played 12 competitive First Team games after coming through the Brentford B pathway, he has played for Denmark at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 23 caps in total so far.
