Jaakko joined The Bees from HJK Helsinki and turned out for their first team at the age of just 16 before catching the eye of Brentford and making the move to Griffin Park in January 2018.
The Finland youth international has played an integral role within the Brentford B setup since his arrival and has turned out 29 times so far this season.
Jaakko made his first team debut in May 2019 as Brentford beat Preston North End 3-0 at Griffin Park in the Sky Bet Championship.
Since then, the youngster has been steadily progressing with Brentford B under Neil MacFarlane this season having featured for the side in tours of Spain, Portugal and Cyprus. Jaakko has also appeared on two occasions for Thomas Frank’s men this season having made substitute appearances against the likes of Reading in the Championship, before making his Emirates FA Cup debut against Stoke City on 4 January.
Discussing Jaakko’s contract extension, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Jaakko has decided to extend his stay at Brentford. Week in, week out, we see him getting better and better, and although at the tender age of 19, he’s becoming a real man for us in terms of what he does on a daily basis and that’s led to the club extending his contract.
“The staff have total belief in his abilities because he is a fantastic footballer. He really handles the ball, and out of possession he’s getting better and better. I think he has a very bright future and it’s really good news for Brentford that we’ve secured him.”
Jaakko looks set to play a big part in a busy next couple of weeks for Brentford B prior to the international break with the young Bees taking on a Rangers XI at Griffin Park on Tuesday 10 March. They then set their sights on two cup semi-final matches as they take on Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale on Monday 16 March in the Middlesex Senior Cup, before they return to action on Wednesday 18 March against Erith Town at The Erith Sports Stadium in the London Senior Cup.
