The 26-year-old enjoyed a superb debut season in West London following his move from Fiorentina last summer. Christian played 42 times in the Sky Bet Championship, contributing three assists, as well as featuring in all three Play-Off matches, setting up Henrik Dalsgaard for his goal in the Final at Wembley.

That form saw him recalled to the Denmark squad in November with a further call-up coming last week for The Danes’ upcoming Nations League games against Belgium and England. His performances were also recognised by his teammates as Christian finished third in The Bees' Players’ Player of the Year vote.

You can see his work ethic, mentality, and leadership skills, which are growing day by day.”

Brentford FC co-Director of Football, Rasmus Ankersen said: “Christian’s influence last season cannot be underestimated. He has grown into one of our leaders on and off the pitch, and I am really pleased that he has chosen to commit his future to Brentford."

Christian began his career with Lyngby before spending 18 months at Hamburg in Germany. He returned to Denmark in the summer of 2013 as one of Thomas Frank’s first signings as Brøndby manager. In his time at Brøndby he won the Danish Cup and finished as league runners-up twice. A cult hero, Christian won the Player of the Year award in 2017, before departing in July 2018 for Fiorentina. He only made six Serie A appearances during his year in Italy before landing in West London last May.
