The 18-year-old Goalkeeper will officially join the Club as part of Brentford B. Matthew will also join up with the First Team squad for pre-season training as they continue preparations for their Premier League opener against Arsenal on 13 August.
Matthew joined Chelsea at the age of eight before linking up with The Dons when he was 14 to feature for the Under-15 squad at Wimbledon. He progressed rapidly with the club before signing his first professional contract at the age of 17 as he became part of the First Team squad at Plough Lane.
He is also capped for England at youth level after turning out for the Under-17 side against Ukraine on two occasions in February 2020.
Discussing Matthew’s arrival at the Club, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “Matthew is a fantastic young Goalkeeper who has already had some good experiences with Wimbledon and internationally with England. He’ll now come to us and get a really good opportunity to train up with the First Team early so they can have a good look at him. The relationship between the First Team and the B Team will allow him the platform to improve and have a good career at this Club.
“He will be adding more competition for places and add to the quality that we already have in Nathan Shepperd and Ben Winterbottom. Matthew fits our style of play, and like all of our Goalkeepers, he is comfortable on the ball and we look forward to working with him.”
