Brentford will play Manchester United in a pre-season friendly next month. A game has been arranged between the sides ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season. It will be held at Old Trafford on Wednesday 28 July and will kick-off at 8pm.
The match will be Brentford's first visit to Old Trafford since an EFL Cup tie in 1975. The sides will also meet in the Premier League this season with The Bees heading back to Old Trafford in April 2022. The friendly match will be open to Manchester United supporters.
The number of fans able to attend Old Trafford and any away fan allocations, will be informed by Government guidelines. This will be subject to review when the guidance for sports events is updated. There will be live coverage of the fixture on MUTV and more information on how Brentford fans can follow the match, if no away tickets are available, will follow in due course.
This is the second confirmed friendly for The Bees ahead of the start of the Premier League season. Brentford will face Boreham Wood on Tuesday 20 July. More details on friendly fixtures will follow when confirmed.
Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, said: “We have had to plan our pre-season without the option to go abroad, given probable Covid-19 restrictions, with some senior players at international tournaments and to prepare for a Premier League season. We wanted to give our players new experiences and challenges and playing Manchester United at Old Trafford fit the bill perfectly. We hope that conditions allow as many fans as possible to attend as that will make it an even better experience.”
