Jared Thompson, Kane O’Connor, Aubrel Koutsimouka and Julien Carré will now depart the Club following the completion of the 2020/21 season.

All of the players have played significant minutes for the young Bees over the course of the campaign, and all leave with the best wishes of everyone at Brentford FC.

Jared turned out 10 times for the young Bees this season and worked closely with Goalkeeping Coach Jani Viander, battling for game time alongside the likes of Nathan Shepperd, Simon Andersson and Ben Winterbottom.

Kane, who regularly captained the side throughout the campaign, featured 25 times this season and made 64 appearances in total for Neil MacFarlane’s side over the course of two seasons. He was part of the 2019/20 squad after signing from Hibernian in the summer of 2019 and he went on to feature for the team in tours in the likes of Spain, Portugal and Cyprus.

Aubrel departs having made 36 appearances for Brentford B over the course of two campaigns. The 19-year-old played 18 times for the young Bees during the 2020/21 season before injury curtailed his campaign.

Julien leaves the Club having made 45 appearances in total for the side over the course of two seasons. The midfielder netted against Albacete Under-19s last season, and he also found the net with a fine effort from distance against Bromley late last year.

Ethan joined the young Bees in February 2021 on a deal until the end of the season on loan from Bognor Regis Town. The defender went on to play 14 times for the side, often slotting into a back three during the final weeks of the campaign.

Discussing the players who will depart the Club, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane was keen to thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future. He explained: “Jared came to us at a time where we needed to strengthen the goalkeeping department. Having spoken with him we agreed that he would be able to use our environment to put himself in the best possible place to go on and have a career. Right to the very end Jared has trained properly every single day. He is somebody who has helped our style of play as we’ve played out from the back. His distribution is as good as you will see and, hopefully, he will go on to do well in the rest of his career.

“We’ve made Kane O’Connor the captain of the B Team many times this season because he’s been a real leader for us during his time here. He is definitely at the stage of his career where he needs to go and play first team football and I believe he can go and do that. He will be a terrific character for whoever he goes on to play for next season. He will get better and better because he gives everything every day and he brings a real passion and commitment to his play.”

On the departure of Aubrel, Neil explained: “Aubrel has all of the physical attributes to go on and have a good career. He’s not been able to force his way through, but at times he’s done fantastically well for the B Team. If he can bring those consistency levels to his game, then I believe that he will go on to do really well in the future.

“As for Julien, he’s played many games for us during my time here. He’s a very talented young midfielder, but we feel it’s the right time for him to go and forge a career and we hope that he will take many of the aspects that we’ve drilled into him on a daily basis to move forward. He’s been a very well-liked character in the group and there’s no doubt he will be missed.”

After the completion of his loan spell, Neil was also keen to praise the efforts of Ethan as he will now return to his parent club. He said: “Ethan came to us with the opportunity to use the environment to his absolute maximum. He has worked tirelessly to improve himself and he’s a terrific boy who is well liked within the group. We wish Ethan all the very best because he is someone who can go and play at a good level.”
