Brentford striker Marcus Forss was beaten to the Carabao Cup Player of the Round prize. Marcus scored four times as Brentford beat Oldham Athletic 7-0. That put him in the running for the Third Round award, but he finished second in a public vote.
Marcus opened the scoring from the penalty spot inside the opening three minutes and made it two soon after. He completed his hat-trick before half time, slotting home after picking up a Saman Ghoddos pass. His fourth came when he smashed a Mads Roerslev cross in off the underneath of the crossbar.
Jay Rodriguez, of Burnley, won the poll. His four goals helped Burnley to beat Rochdale after they had fallen behind early on. Phil Foden, of Manchester City, and Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin were also nominated but Rodriguez won the vote.
