The 20-year-old arrived in West London in October 2020 on a three-year deal with a Club option of a further year from Adelaide and he will now return to his boyhood club to continue his development and play first team football.
The winger has made 16 appearances for Neil MacFarlane’s young Bees so far this season, and he has been on the scoresheet on four occasions- most recently when he netted twice in the B Team’s 3-2 win over Aris Limassol during their tour in Cyprus in November 2021.
Lachlan arrived at the Club from Adelaide where he made his debut at the age of 16 against Jiangsu Suning in the 2017 AFC Champions League. As he continued to develop, he was named Youth Player of the Year following the 2019/20 season where he featured eight times for Adelaide’s first team. He also netted his first goal at senior level against Perth Glory that season.
Adelaide’s 2021/22 season got under way in November 2021 and the regular season concludes at the end of May this year. Having played six games in their league campaign so far, the side sit seventh in the table with seven points and drew 1-1 with Melbourne Victory last time out.
Discussing Lachlan’s departure on loan, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “I think that Lachlan has come to a stage where he's been playing for the B Team for a period of time and hasn't quite pushed into that First Team group on a regular basis as yet, so he will go back to Adelaide with the aim of playing first team football.
"The intention is for him to go away and get a large number of minutes under his belt and show the improvements that he has made since he arrived with us. We look forward to seeing Lachlan's progress in the coming months with Adelaide and we feel he can be a key player for them in the coming months, with a view to returning to us and continuing the good work that he has put in."
