Fin Stevens has agreed a new five-year Brentford contract.
Fin joined Brentford in the summer of 2020 as part of our B Team group. He spent the previous year with Worthing in the Isthmian League Premier Division having spent his formative football years at Arsenal. He signed a new three-year contract last summer and has now committed for a longer period.
Fin signed the deal a day before he is due to meet up with Wales Under-21 for a pair of UEFA European Under-21 Qualification matches. It also comes just days after he was officially promoted from the Brentford B squad. He will be part of the First Team training group when The Bees return at the end of next month.
"Everyone at Brentford is very pleased that Fin will be with us for the next 5 years," said Director of Football Phil Giles. "He has made fantastic progress with his development over the last two seasons, and thoroughly deserved his recent promotion to the First Team squad.
"Bringing through players from the B Team is an incredibly important part of what the Club does, so the new contract is another step towards Fin impacting our first team over the coming years. His immediate task is to start to play 90 minutes more regularly, which may involve a loan at some point, but for now he will return to pre-season with a full focus on breaking into the First Team in the Premier League."
Fin was involved with the First Team group throughout the 2021/22 season and for a lot of the year before. He made his Brentford debut in a Carabao Cup win over Fulham in October 2020, just weeks after arriving from Worthing. He made five appearances in total for Brentford in the 2020/21 season, two in the Sky Bet Championship. He was a substitute at Wembley when Brentford won promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship Play-Off Final.
The teenager made a further four appearances for The Bees this season. That included a Premier League debut, against Southampton in January. Fin has also featured 28 times for the Brentford B – 22 of those appearances coming in his debut season – and has seven Wales Under-21 caps.
