Brentford B attacker Lachlan Brook and his Australia Under-23 team mates will be going for glory in the next week. Lachlan is in the Australia squad at the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan. They have made it through the group stages and the path to the trophy is now mapped out.
Lachlan and Australia finished top of Group B. They beat Kuwait and Jordan and drew with Iraq. Lachlan played a role in all three games. Australia ended with seven points and were one of five teams to end with that record, the best in the tournament.
Australia will now play Turkmenistan in the Quarter Finals. This match will be played tomorrow, Saturday 11 June at 6pm local time. Turkmenistan finished second in Group A with four points. They lost to Uzbekistan, beat Iran and scored two late goals to earn a point against Qatar and a spot in the last eight.
Should Australia come through that game they will have a Semi-Final against either Saudi Arabia or Vietnam. That match will be played next Wednesday, 15 June. The final will be played on Sunday 19 June with a Third Place Play-Off the day before. We will keep fans up to date on Lachlan’s progress through the tournament.
